Straight edge, full contact, clean cuts every time. This Kuro Chukabocho cleaver is built for cooks who prep vegetables by the pile, not the piece.
The blade is forged from high-carbon steel as a hand-finished, full tang design — a straight, double-bevelled 18 cm edge with a 10 cm tall blade and a sturdy 4 mm spine. That extra height and weight sit it between a traditional lightweight nakiri and a heavier Chinese-style chukabocho, giving you a push-cutting knife that powers through hard-skinned vegetables like squash and swede without losing the fine control needed for julienne, brunoise and allumette work.
At 435 g it has real presence in the hand without feeling unwieldy, and it arrives with a protective safety sheath so the edge stays keen between uses.
This is a dedicated vegetable knife — not a do-it-all blade — and it is better for it, built to reward cooks who value precision prep.

Hand wash only and dry thoroughly straight away — high-carbon steel can stain or rust if left wet. It is not dishwasher safe.
Hone it regularly and resharpen on a whetstone as needed to keep the straight edge performing at its best.
No — the thin, hard edge is designed for clean cuts through produce, not impact work. Avoid bone and frozen food.
Its taller blade and thicker spine give it more weight and push-cutting power than a typical lightweight nakiri, closer to a Chinese-style vegetable cleaver.
