Slice through crusty artisan loaves and delicate pastries without tearing or crushing them. This 10-inch VG10 Damascus Japanese-style knife pairs a long serrated edge with a handcrafted wooden handle and matching scabbard.
Every Kurocho bread knife starts with a core of VG10 stainless steel, wrapped in 67 layers of hand-finished Damascus steel. The lamination process produces the knife's signature feather pattern — no two blades look exactly alike — while the VG10 core holds a fine, long-lasting edge through repeated use.
The blade's long serrated edge is purpose-built for bread: it grips the crust and saws cleanly through it, then glides through the soft crumb beneath without compressing it. At 10 inches, it's long enough to clear a full sourdough boule or tin loaf in a single, unhurried stroke, and it handles cakes and tomatoes with the same light touch.
The oval-profile wooden handle is shaped for a relaxed, secure grip during long sawing strokes, and the included wooden scabbard keeps the serrated edge protected — and your fingers safe — when the knife is stored in a drawer.

Hand wash only, and dry it immediately with a towel rather than leaving it to air dry — this protects both the Damascus finish and the edge. Store it in the included scabbard or on a knife block or magnetic rack rather than loose in a drawer.
No. Dishwasher detergents and prolonged moisture can dull the edge and damage the blade's finish and wooden handle, so this knife should always be washed by hand.
Serrated edges hold their sharpness for a long time and are best maintained with a specialist serrated/ceramic honing rod rather than a flat whetstone, which is designed for straight edges. If in doubt, a professional sharpening service can restore a serrated edge safely.
No — it's designed for bread, cakes and soft produce like tomatoes. Cutting bone or frozen food can chip the edge and should be avoided.
